What is an infinity pool?
An infinity pool, also called a vanishing-edge or negative-edge pool, has at least one side where the water spills over the wall into a hidden catch basin. Seen from the water, the surface seems to run straight into the sea, the sky or the skyline.
Hotels build them where the view matters most: on cliffs, on rooftops, above beaches and over jungle valleys. A pool with a raised wall or a railing in front of the view is not an infinity pool, even when the view is wide.
We list a hotel for its pool. A true infinity pool comes first; when a destination has few of them, we complete the page with pools in a memorable setting, such as a rooftop or a cliffside deck. How we choose the hotels
Questions about infinity pool hotels
Which destination has the most hotels in this guide?
Dubai has the most, with 23 hotels. Next is Santorini, with 20.
Can non-guests use a hotel infinity pool?
Usually not: most hotel pools are for staying guests only. Some hotels sell day passes or let restaurant and bar guests use the pool, so check the hotel's own website before you go.
When is the best time to go?
It depends on the destination, and each destination page explains its own season. In October, the best time includes Santorini, Bali, the Amalfi Coast, Maui and Mauritius.
Are the prices on this site live?
No. Each hotel card shows a 'from' price per night that we check again every month, so the rate for your dates can be higher or lower. The booking link opens the hotel on Booking.com, where you see current prices.
How do you choose the hotels?
We start from the pool. A true infinity pool with a visible open edge comes first, and other pools appear only when a destination has few of them. We research each hotel on its own website and in its photos.
